Who can add a link to a TikTok bio
TikTok's help center describes two routes, and they depend on your account type rather than on anything you post.
| Account type | Can post a website link | What else changes |
|---|---|---|
| General account (personal) | With at least 1,000 followers | Nothing: you keep the general music library |
| Verified business account | Yes, with no follower minimum | Music comes from the Commercial Music Library only |
Most creators are on a general account, which TikTok calls a good choice for content creators and most public figures. For them the link arrives at 1,000 followers.
Adding the link once you qualify
- Open the TikTok app and tap Profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- If your account qualifies, a field for a website appears among your profile details. Paste the full address of your page.
- Save, then open your profile to check the link works.
Use the app on a phone. Profile editing on TikTok is built around the mobile app, and that is where the website field shows up.
Should you switch to a business account for the link?
Only if you are actually a business. A verified business account gets the link without the follower minimum, but TikTok's help center is clear about the cost: those accounts use the Commercial Music Library, which is cleared for commercial use, and lose the general music library. For a creator whose videos live on trending sounds, that is a real loss.
Business accounts also have to verify the business, and TikTok advises against switching back and forth: your verification is not saved, and you would have to verify again. If you want to promote a business and post personal content, TikTok recommends two separate accounts.
Before you reach 1,000 followers
- Write your address into your bio text. It will not be a tappable link, so keep it short enough to type from memory: noiz.bio/yourname is easier to type than a long store address.
- Say it in a video, and pin that video to your profile.
- Send people through a profile that does have a link. TikTok's profile settings include a section for linking a website or other social accounts, and your Instagram bio can carry up to five links.
What to put behind a TikTok link
TikTok gives you one link, so what it opens matters more than on Instagram, where you get five. Point it at a link-in-bio page rather than at a single video or product, and put the thing you are talking about this week at the top.
Timing helps too. On Noiz a link can carry a start and an end time, so a drop appears at the minute you announce it and comes down when it is over, without you editing anything at midnight. Scheduling, hiding and archiving shows how. For ideas on what goes first, see link in bio examples.
Questions
- Why can't I add a link to my TikTok bio?
- Your account probably does not qualify yet. TikTok's help center says general accounts need at least 1,000 followers to post a website link, and verified business accounts can post one without a minimum.
- Do I need 1,000 followers for a link in my TikTok bio?
- On a general account, yes. A verified business account can add a link at any follower count.
- Will a business account change which sounds I can use?
- Yes. TikTok's help center says verified business accounts use the Commercial Music Library and do not have access to the general music library.
- Is an address typed into my TikTok bio text clickable?
- Not the way the website field is. Typing an address into the bio text shows it as text, so people have to copy it. Keep it short if you rely on that.
- What should my TikTok bio link go to?
- One page that holds everything, with this week's most important thing first. TikTok allows one link, so a link-in-bio page does the job of several.
