Where backgrounds live
Dashboard → Design → Page. One dropdown picks the type, and the controls underneath change to match it.
The types
- None: your background color, nothing over it
- Solid Color
- Gradient: two colors and an angle
- Image: the file you uploaded in Media
- Video: MP4, MOV or GIF, with a mute switch
- Particles: floating points, with count, spread, speed, size, transparency and mouse reaction
- Galaxy: stars and dust, with density, hue, twinkle, glow, saturation, focal point, mouse interaction and repulsion
- Silk: a slow flowing weave, with speed, scale, color, noise and rotation
- Lightning: bolts, with hue, position, speed, intensity and size
- Iridescence: shifting color, with speed, amplitude and mouse reaction
- Liquid Chrome: flowing metal, with base color, speed, amplitude, frequency and interactivity
- Snowfall: falling flakes, in a color you choose
- Aurora: bands of light drifting overhead, with color, speed, intensity, spread and softness
- Clouds: a night sky with clouds, with color, speed, sky brightness and cloud count
- Ghost Fibers: drifting fibers of light with a glow; twenty-three controls, from layers and twist to grain and vignette
- CRT Warp: a plasma signal on a curved, scanlined screen; curvature, scanlines, bloom, pixelation, color fringing and a pointer lean
- Liquid Ether: a fluid stirred by the pointer that stirs itself when nobody is there; three colors, force, viscosity, simulation detail and the demo pointer's behavior
- Light Pillar: a column of light rising through the page; two colors, width, height, glow, tilt and rotation
- Light Rays: rays from an edge you choose; color, origin, spread, length, pulse and pointer influence
- Pixel Blast: a dithered pixel field; shape, pixel size, density, ripples on click, an optional liquid warp and grain
- Pixel Snow: pixel-art snow; flake shape, size, density, depth, speed and wind direction
- Dither: slow waves in a handful of shades; two colors, wave speed and shape, color count, pixel size and a pointer dip
Setting one up
- Go to Design → Page
- Pick a type from Background Type
- Adjust the controls that appear under it
- Watch the docked preview beside the settings, no need to open your page
Everything saves itself as you go. There is no Save button on this tab.
Performance
Galaxy, Lightning, Iridescence, Liquid Chrome and the eight added in September 2026 are WebGL shaders and run on the visitor's GPU every frame. On an older phone that is felt. Liquid Ether is the heaviest: a fluid simulation, six passes deep, and its Simulation detail control is the first thing to lower. Lower density or intensity elsewhere rather than assuming everyone has your hardware. A browser that cannot draw WebGL at all, with hardware acceleration switched off or on a very old device, still loads the profile and shows your background color where the effect would be.
