Glow (Premium)
Dashboard → Design → Card → Glow. A colored halo behind the parts of your page you want to carry light.
Eight elements
Glow is per element, not one setting for the page:
- Display name
- Handle (@username)
- Location
- Social icons
- Badges
- Card border
- Link text
- Link border
Each has its own switch, its own color and its own strength.
Turning one element on
The master switch turns on all eight at once, which is rarely what you want. Open Glow one element only: the collapsible under the switch, and turn on just the one. The two link rows sit under Links → Style and the badge row under the badge list in Design → Profile, each beside the thing it lights.
- Go to Design → Card
- Open the collapsible under the Glow switch
- Turn on the element you want
- Set its color beside the switch, and its intensity below
Intensity, and what it inherits
There is a master Intensity slider from 1 to 100%, and each element can override it. Leave an element alone and it follows the master; drag its own slider and it stops.
The reset arrow on an element's intensity hands it back to the master. So does dragging it to exactly the master's number, at that point the two are the same glow, and following is the truthful state.
Pulse
Pulse fades the glow in and out, at a speed from 1 to 10 seconds. It applies to every glowing element together.
Making it look deliberate
- One or two elements. Seven glowing things is a blur, not an effect
- Match the glow color to your accent, or contrast it hard. Halfway looks accidental
- Glow on light text over a light background reads as a printing fault
- A slow pulse is atmosphere. A fast one is a warning light
