What this does
A YouTube or Spotify link can render as a player in your page instead of a link that leaves it. Visitors watch or listen without going anywhere.
- Add the link as usual
- Press the play icon on its card in Dashboard → Links
- The card shows a badge naming what it detected
Press the same icon again to turn it back into an ordinary link.
What can be embedded
- YouTube videos, Shorts and playlists, including youtu.be, m.youtube.com and music.youtube.com links
- Spotify tracks, albums, playlists, artists, shows and episodes
Turning embedding on is your explicit choice, not something a recognized URL does by itself: someone linking their channel usually wants a link to their channel. If a URL cannot be parsed with confidence, the link simply stays a link.
When the player loads
The player is the provider's own, and it is there as soon as your page opens: a visitor's browser contacts Google or Spotify while the page renders, not when they press play. Players further down the page wait until someone scrolls near them.
This changed on August 27, 2026. Players used to wait for a press, which held the request back but meant a play button that loaded a second play button. Our privacy policy sets out what a visitor's browser now sends and to whom.
Embeds and analytics
An embedded link records no clicks. The click used to be the moment the player loaded, and with the player loading by itself there is no visitor action left to count: a cross-origin player cannot be watched from your page, and counting the page view as a play would be a number nobody produced. Your page views still count as normal.
