What a page is
A page is a screen below your card with a title and any number of widgets: your clips, images, games and music, a GitHub project, a calendar, your settings and hardware, VRChat lists, plain text and lists, or a Spotify, YouTube or Twitch embed. Visitors scroll down from your card to reach them, and on a desktop a dot rail down the side jumps between them.
How a page lays itself out
You never place anything. A page composes itself from what you add and the order you put it in.
- On a desktop a page is a wide canvas. The first media widget (clips, images, games, music, VRChat or an embed) fills the width; everything else sits two to a row in your order
- One clip is a big player, five are a grid of three and two. One image is shown at its own size, ten are rows that keep each picture's shape. One game is a cover beside its name, twenty are a shelf with your favorite first, or a film strip of the covers if you prefer
- A long block takes the whole row on its own: a list of nine rows or more, a calendar with nine dates, a settings block with many fields
- Two small media widgets share a row, so your avatars and groups sit side by side
- On a phone everything is one column, in the same order
The order of the widget list is the only layout control there is, and each row in that list says where the widget will sit on a desktop. Drag a widget up or down and the page follows.
The first line of a page
Put a text widget without a heading first and its opening line becomes the page's lede under the title. Give it a heading and it stays a normal block.
Players and galleries
- Clips show a first frame, a play button and their length; the browser's controls appear once a clip is playing, and playing one pauses the others
- Your music is one player: the current track's cover, the transport, and the rest of the list as a queue
- An image gallery is a grid or a carousel. The carousel is a film strip: swipe on a phone, arrows on a desktop, and it stops moving while somebody is looking at it
- Tap any image to open it large
- Every picture that gets cropped to a shape can be framed: images, track covers and VRChat pictures have a crop control under them in the editor that sets where to look and how close
Templates
A template is a starting point, not a page type. Gaming setup arrives with a games shelf over your settings and hardware, Music with your tracks over a calendar, VR with worlds, avatars and groups. Every widget on a templated page can be removed, and any widget can be added to any page.
