Three separate things
Connecting Discord, showing your Discord on your page, and showing your server are three decisions, not one. Each is its own switch.
Connecting your account
- Go to Settings → Account → Discord account
- Press Connect Discord and complete the Discord sign-in
- You come back to this screen and your handle and picture are copied across automatically
This attaches Discord to the account you are already signed in to. It also means you can sign in with Discord from then on.
Your Discord picture, your badges and any server icon are loaded from Discord's own servers when someone opens your page. Press Reconnect / refresh after you change your Discord handle or avatar to pull the new one across.
Showing your Discord on your page
Turn on Show my Discord on my profile. That adds a card with your Discord handle and picture. The switch stays disabled until something has actually been copied across: there is nothing to show before that.
Your badges
If your Discord account has badges (HypeSquad, Early Supporter, Partner and so on) they appear next to your handle on the card. Nothing to switch on: they come with the account, and they are read from Discord when someone opens your page.
A badge we do not have an icon for is left out rather than drawn wrong, so it is possible to have a badge on Discord that does not appear here.
Live status has been removed
The card used to show Online, Idle or Do Not Disturb with a colored dot. It no longer does, and there is no switch to bring it back.
Discord does not offer another account's status to a website. That feature relied on a third-party service, and noiz no longer uses any third party for it. There is also no last seen, and never was: nothing records when you went offline, so a duration would be invented.
Your server card
A second card can show a Discord server with a Join button.
- Go to Settings → Account → Discord server
- Paste an invite: discord.gg/yourserver, or just the code after the slash
- Press Check & save
- Turn on Show a Discord server
Checking the invite confirms it works and reads the server's name, icon and approximate member counts. We keep the address of the icon, not a copy of it: like your avatar, it is loaded from Discord when someone opens your page. The card shows online and total members when Discord tells us, and nothing when it does not: 0 Members would read as a measurement rather than as an admission.
Checking an invite does not publish it. The switch is the only thing that puts the card on your page, so you can verify a link without showing it to anyone. Clearing the field removes the server.
Disconnecting
Settings → Account → Disconnect. Your handle and picture come off your page, both Discord switches go back off, and Discord stops being a way to sign in. Your links, your server invite and everything else stay.
